Mabel Lucie Attwell (1879-1964) is fondly remembered for her illustrations of the books Alice in Wonderland, The Water Babies, and in particular Peter Pan. In the 1920s, there was hardly a British household without a card or a calendar showing her artwork. These are for well-meaning Grandparents wishing to share their childhood with their own grandchildren.
